Consecration Myke

The Rt. Rev. Michael Beckett, OPI ~ Father General of the Order,

made his Solemn Profession a Dominican in 2011 and was elected as Father General later that year.  He is currently the Bishop Protector of the Order as well as the Presiding Bishop of the Unified Old Catholic Church, and is the Priest of the Chapel of Saint Dominic’s by the Sea in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.   A former school teacher, he is active in broadcast ministry, teaching in the St. Thomas Aquinas Institute for Clergy Education, and strives to live his life in accordance with the Dominican charism.  He is a firm believer in community, in education, and in spreading the Love of Christ to all.  He lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his partner, Scott, and their Sheltie, Ginger, Standard Poodle, Zoey, and their cat, Mr. Binx.

Dollie

The Rev. Deacon Sr. Dollie Wilkinson, OPI

was born, and raised in Charleston, WV. She spent most of her earlier life caring for her siblings, and eventually her Mother and Grandmother. Getting married in her 20’s, she had two beautiful daughters, and spent much of that time as a stay at home mom. When both of her girls were in school, she became an active volunteer in the school, and eventually established a Parent Resource Center in the elementary school where both her daughters attended. This led to her becoming a Substitute teacher, a role she enjoyed until her daughters graduated from high school.  Being raised Baptist, she attended church on an irregular basis, not feeling as if she fit in because of the beliefs with in the various churches she attended. In her later years, she became acquainted with the Catholic faith through a dear friend, and priest, and realized this is what she has always sought. Through research, her personal dialogue with God, and mentoring from friends within the Catholic Church, she now serves as Archdeacon in the Unified Old Catholic Church, and is more informally known as Sister Dollie within the Order of Preachers. Her wish is to inspire other girls/women who have felt a calling but who have denied because of their gender, race, etc., to seek their own path with God, and to fulfill what ever role they wish with in the Catholic Church.

Scott

The Rev. Deacon Scott Brown, OPI

was ordained to the Diaconate in 2013 and his Solemn Profession as a Dominican in 2014.  He is active in the parish life of the Chapel of St.Dominic’s by the Sea in Myrtle Beach, SC. and is currently going to ITT Tech, studying Computer Network Administration.  He lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his partner, Michael, and their three fur babies.

LadyThe Very Reverend Lady Sherwood, OPI,

is a solemnly professed Sister in our Order and made her Perpetual Vows on  6 June 2014 in Blue Bell, PA.  She is 45 years old and a widow who lives in the United Kingdom in the Historic Town of Newton-Le-Willows in Merseyside. She is the UK representative of the Unified Old Catholic Church and was ordained to the priesthood several years ago.  Her chapel there is called the Chapel of St.Dominic & St.Stephen the Martyr.  She is a very dedicated and caring person who spends much time ministering to the most unloved and forgotten members of our society.  She teaches that they are loved by the Lord as is anyone else, and believes these are the people who may not get chance to know about our Lord and the peace and salvation which only He can give.  She has a good sense of humour and loves to make people smile.   She has a 4 year old rescue dog named Daisy, who Mother Lady says is “lovely but is such a livewire and is always hungry!”

Igor Face Pic

The Rev. Deacon Igor Kalinski, OPI,

comes to us from Macedonia. His ministry includes working with the elderly, and he is focused on animal rights. Br. Igor made his Simple Profession in October of 2015 and his Solemn Profession in December of 2016.  He hopes to find friends who will join him in Macedonia, or wherever he will be, to help him bring more abandoned people to Christ.

Brother Chip Noon, Novice

was brought up Roman Catholic but left that church during his college years. His US Army dogtags listed his religion as “No Preference,” but that designation never felt right. He finally began attending the Unitarian Universalist Church in Portsmouth, NH. There he was the choir director for many years and he also became involved in church governance. Still seeking the right “preference,” he one day attended Mass at a Catholic Church in Portsmouth and felt that he had been “knocked off his horse” with the realization that he was, after all, a Catholic. While he enjoyed great comfort in praying The Liturgy of the Hours daily, and studying the writings of the Church fathers, he was severely wounded by the Roman Catholic stances on many topics. Through a fortuitous encounter on Facebook, he discovered the Order and a group of like-minded Catholics who felt that the message of Jesus, a simple message of love of God and neighbor, was what the world needed and was calling for. He continues to pray and explore this new path and is being taught genuine Catholicism through his answers to the questions in The First Steps to the Postulancy and his conversations with the Father General of the Order, The Rt. Rev. Michael Beckett, OPI. He is married to Susan Noon and between them they have four children and four grandchildren.

shawn

The Rev. Shawn Gisewhite, OPI

For as long as Shawn can remember, he knew God was calling him to ordained ministry. One of his earliest childhood memories was of him lining his stuffed animals up of his bed and preaching to them. Raised in the Church of the Brethren, Shawn later joined the Episcopal Church when he was 19 and confirmed in 2011. Life has provided a few speed bumps over the years in Shawn’s life, including caring for his terminally ill mother, which caused him to place his calling on the back burner. Nonetheless, Shawn has earned an Associates in Biblical Studies and a Bachelor of Theology degree, graduating from both with honors. He has been highly active over the years in various forms of lay ministry and leadership, including 2 years as a Licensed Preacher in the United Methodist Church. Shawn began preaching at age 16 and has been a guest preacher at many churches.  Shawn  comes to us from the Anglican Order of Preachers (Dominican). He was ordained a priest in 2017 and made his Simple Profession as a Dominican on 24 June 2018. He and his wife Rachel live in Lewiston, PA.
